The Ronin Edge is excited to announce our knife making workshops. Students will now have the opportunity to build your very own knife from beginning to end. You will be able to choose from many of our kitchen cutlery and hunting/tactical designs or, for an additional charge we can design and built your very own custom knife. Classes are one day (8 hours) and will cost $250-$350 depending on knife you choose. Classes are limited to 4 students so as each student receives personal hands-on instruction.
General Course Description: This is a very hands-on class and you will be working with industrial machines.
Introduction - The Ronin Edge Team
Equipment, safety issues, and accident prevention
Introduction to metallurgy and why we choose the steel we use
Lay out your design on blank piece of steel and profile shape of blade
Prepare and drill holes for handle
Introduction to heat treatment, tempering, and Cryogenic treatment
Testing heat treatment
Grinding initial bevel of blade, refining the bevel, and finish grind
We like to start classes early 8:30 am to ensure everyone has enough time to complete their knives. Class will end at approximately 4:30. Closed toe shoes, short sleeve shirt, and long pants are required. No flip flops, No shorts, and No long sleeve shirts.
Workshop will be held at 42246 Whisper Rock Street, Indio, CA 92203. Take the I-10 east and exit on Golf Center Drive.
Absolutely No Refunds. If you are unable to attend your scheduled workshop you will be given the opportunity to reschedule. Because of the upfront costs associated with getting workshops scheduled we are unable to offer refunds.
